Welcome to the Hawthorne Foundation/Hawthorne Country Day School web site. The Hawthorne Foundation/Hawthorne Country Day School is a New York State Approved 501 (c) 3. We operate New York State Approved 853 school programs, and OPWDD adult programs. At the Hawthorne Foundation and Hawthorne Country Day School, we believe education works best when valid research findings from the fields of education and psychology are applied to all aspects of teaching. Teaching practices derived from the science of behavior analysis are the corner stones of our educational program. Verbal behavior, academic literacy, reading, social skills, self-management skills, and problem solving skills are all taught systematically; and, behavior problems are instructional challenges and learning opportunities. Socially inappropriate behaviors are analyzed to determine the function, then data are used to design an appropriate behavior intervention plan.
Our mission at the Hawthorne Foundation is to provide quality educational, habilitative, vocational, and recreational programs for individuals with disabilities. The Hawthorne Foundation has a commitment to our students and consumers to foster independence, integration, individualization and productivity while enhancing the quality of their lives. Our goal is to enable each and every indiviual to reach his/her maximum potential in the least restrictive environment and to assist each individual with identifying and realizing their goals.
The Hawthorne Foundation provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism including in-home early intervention, center based pre-school, 5-21 school age program in Westchester, NY, 5-12 school age program in NYC, day habilitation (18+), Individual Residential Alternatives, Medicaid Service Coordination, and Parent Education Programs.
